The first opportunities for the general public were held on April 20th and 22nd.  These events were informal open houses to introduce the people of Johnson County to the comprehensive planning process and the findings so far.  These sessions gave interested citizens the change to visit one-on-one with members of the county steering committee, staff, and consultant team and share their thoughts about the county's future opportunities and its present challenges.  At these open houses, guests were asked to consider:

• What issues are important to you?
• What should be the focus of the plan?
• Should development be encouraged?  Where?  What type?
• Are there features worth protecting in the county?

Additional opportunities will be coming up in the next few months and will give interested citizens the chance to view and discuss preliminary ideas.  Dates of those meetings will be posted here when the schedule is finalized.

Creating a Plan that truly reflects the desires of the people who live and work in Johnson County requires the involvement of those people in the planning process.  Your participation is important and many opportunities will be available for you to know what’s going on, make suggestions, offer comments, and influence the Plan’s direction.  Information updates and progress reports will be regularly posted on this web page, along with dates for upcoming meetings where you will have an opportunity to see first hand what progress is being made and share your thoughts and insights with the County’s planning team.  We not only welcome your participation but enthusiastically invite it!
